First Khutbah

Praise be to Allah, Who has made the present life a transitory abode and the hereafter a permanent abode. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, Who has no partners in the hereafter or in the present life, and I bear witness that our prophet, Muhammad, is His servant and messenger, the chosen prophet and favoured messenger. O Allah! Bestow Your prayers, peace, and blessings upon him and upon his family and pious Companions.

“O you who believe! Keep your duty to Allah and fear Him, and speak the truth. He will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins. And whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, he has indeed achieved a great achievement.” [Surah al-Ahzab: 70-71]

O Muslims!  People today, who live in a world full of successive changes and developments and face its temptations and seductive amusements, are in dire need of deeply contemplating the verses in which Allah, Majesty and Glory be to Him, says:  “Think! (even) if We do let them enjoy for years, and afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised, all that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them.” [Surah ash-Shu‘ara’: 205-207]

First Khutbah

Praise is exclusively due to Allah! We praise Him, ask His pardon, and return unto Him in repentance. O Allah, it is to You that we address our praise voiced through our expressions of gratitude and glorification which befit Your Majestic Existence!

(The Sheikh cites two lines of poetry):

Praise is sent to you in succession,

Incessantly and devotedly offered to the Lord of the Worlds.

Gratitude is unremittingly extended to You infinitely,

Regardless of occasion or time.

I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship save Allah alone without associate, a testimony whereby we seek to attain lucidity in identifying truth and   holding fast to it. I equally bear witness that our Master and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is Allah’s Servant and Messenger, who has been sent as grace and peace to the whole universe fragranced with his Message which spreads love and harmony. O Allah, send Your Salat and Blessing onto him, onto his family who valiantly pioneered the pursuit of truth, his blessed Companions who persevered despite fits of prevailing misguidance, the tabi’în, and all those who have righteously followed their footsteps, seeking to be granted by Allah, the Compassionate, high status and blissful residence in Paradise. May Allah’s bountiful Salat and Grace be unceasingly bestowed on them all till Doomsday!

First Khutbah

Praise be to Allah Who grants victory to whomever He wishes. I praise Him in rich and poor, and I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone with no associate, equal or match. He is the Most Gracious, and the Most Beneficent. I also bear witness that our Master Muhammad is the Servant and Messenger of Allah; that he is the Imam of messengers and the Seal of prophets. May Allah send His Salat, Peace, and Blessings onto His Servant and Messenger, Muhammad, his chaste and honourable family, and may He be pleased with his faithful and close Companions, the tabiʿīn, and those who follow them in righteousness till Judgment and Account Day!

Now then, I urge you ‒servants of Allah‒ to fear Allah, to observe His Commands, to return in repentance to Him and never disobey Him.

First Khutbah

Praise be to Allah! Praise be to Allah, the Supreme, the Omnipotent! He has inimitably conceived creation and minutely controlled its operation. May He be exalted and gratified: The Forgiver of sin, the Acceptor of repentance, the Severe in punishment, the Bestower (of favours). Lâ ilâha illâ Huwa (none has the right to be worshiped but He), to Him is the final return. [Surah Ghâfir: 3]

I praise Him and thank Him for His abundant bounties and profuse favours. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, with no associate. To Him alone belongs sovereignty and unto Him alone gratitude is due. He imparts life into existence and retreats it thereof. He is totally capable of performing whatever deeds He wishes. I also bear witness that our Master and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is Allah’s Servant and Messenger, heralding felicitous destiny for believers and portending unfortunate fate for disbelievers. He is the guide illuminating believers’ path. May Allah send His Salat and incessant Peace onto him, his family, his wives, his Companions, and his tabi’în (the contemporaries of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ after his death), and all those who have followed them righteously and are treading the right path.

First Khutbah

Praise be to Allah, Supporter of the believers. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, who has no partners, the Protector of the righteous, and I bear witness that our Prophet Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, the best of all creation. O Allah! Bestow Your peace, prayers, and blessings on him, his Household, and his Companions till the Day of Judgment.

O Muslims! Listen to the words of your Lord: “O you who believe! Keep your duty to Allah and fear Him, and speak (always) the truth. He will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins. And whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, he has indeed achieved a great achievement.” [Surah al-Ahzab: 70-71].

Brothers in Islam! The misfortunes and evils surrounding Muslims today, as well as the trials, oppression and gross corruption besetting some Muslim countries, require all of us to join hands and support one another with a view to establishing truth and justice and repelling falsehood and oppression. Our Lord, Glorified and Exalted be He, says: “Help one another in Al-Birr and At-Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety). . .” [Surah al-Ma’idah: 2]

First Khutbah

Praise be to Allah! We praise Him, seek His help, ask Him to forgive us, and we repent to Him. We seek refuge with Allah from the evils of ourselves and our bad deeds. Whomever Allah guides, no one will ever misguide; and whomever Allah misguides, no one will ever guide. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone with no associate, and I also bear witness that Muhammad ﷺ is Allah’s Servant and Messenger.

O you who believe! Fear Allâh as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islâm.” [Surah Ale Imran: 102]

O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person, and from him He created his wife, and from them both He created many men and women; and fear Allâh through Whom you demand (your mutual rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allâh is Ever an All-Watcher over you. [Surah an Nisa: 1]

O you who believe! Keep your duty to Allâh and fear Him, and speak (always) the truth. He will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins. And whosoever obeys Allâh and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم), he has indeed achieved a great achievement (i.e. he will be saved from the Hell-fire and will be admitted to Paradise).”  [Surah al Ahzab: 70-71]

First Khutbah

Praise be to Allah! We give praise to Him, ask for His forgiveness, and return to Him in repentance. O Allah! Eternal and unrelenting praise is due to You! We do express infinite gratitude to You, both secretly and publicly!

(The Sheikh cites two lines of poetry about praise):

We untiringly voice praise to the Lord of the Worlds,

Praise that is doubled, nay trebled!

           Our thanks multi-fold are due

To Him every now and then.

I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, with no associate. He bestowed upon us the blessed shari’â and the Qur’ān, and I bear witness that our Prophet and Master Muhammad is Allah’s Servant and Messenger. He is endowed with the soundest proof and signs from Allah and represents Muslims’ exemplary model of unconditional belief in, and submission to, divine revelation. Oh Allah! Confer Your blessed, fragrant, and most agreeable salât and peace on him, his family which are chaste morally and wise intellectually, his Companions who sanctified the texts of sharî’a and were brave knights, the tabi’în (the contemporaries of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ after his death), and all those who have righteously followed their footsteps.

Now then, servants of Allah, observe taqwa as it should be observed, for observing the taqwa of Allah is the ultimate glory and the sublime guidance one may aspire to. It is the key to achievement, triumph, and satisfaction: O you who believe! Fear Allâh as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islâm. [Surah Ale Îmran: 102]
